<p>PURPOSE:To melt and solidify an ultrapure metallic material in a short time by heating and melting the material floating in space in agravic environment by a high-frequency induced current and then injecting a cooling gas to quench the material. CONSTITUTION:A high-frequency induction coil 7 is arranged around a metallic material 2 floating in space in agravic environment, a high-frequency current is supplied from a power source 6, and the material is rapidly heated and melted by the induced current. An inert gas such as Ar in a tank 9 is injected from the nozzle 8 on both sides of the material 2 onto the completely melted material which is quenched, and then the solidified material is received by a lower receiver 5 in agravic environment. A vessel for the material 2 is not needed since the work is performed in agravic environment, impurities do not intrude from the vessel, and an ultrapure metallic material without segregation is obtained in a short time.</p> |
