Mfg. circuit board with flexible section - using blank with cut=out regions and joining by forming thin laminate of same material as main section

The board is produced from a single sided copper coated 1.5 mm thick glass fibre reinforced material. At the location at which bending is required, an opening is formed in a blanking operation. The unplated side of the board now receives a laminate of very thin, e.g. 0.1 mm thick, material of which the main section is produced, except that it has low resin content. The resulting section is flexible. ADVANTAGE - Combines rigid board sections with flexible sections; allows rigid sections to be positioned in different locations while maintaining electrical interconnection.
