A device (1) for hinging and supporting a vehicle bonnet (2) has two brackets (4,15), which are fastened, respectively, to the bonnet (2) and to a body (3) of the vehicle and are pivotally connected directly to one another about an axis of rotation (19), to allow the bonnet (2) to pivot between a raised position and a lowered position; the device (1) has a toggle lever mechanism (23) able to move between a first operating position, in which it keeps the bonnet (2) raised, and a second operating position, corresponding to the lowered position of the bonnet (2); the toggle lever mechanism (23) consists of two levers (24,25) pivotally connected directly to one another about a hinge axis (29); the levers (24,25) are pivotally connected directly to the two brackets (4,15) and, during the movement between the first and second operating position, the toggle lever mechanism (23) moves past a dead center position.
