<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a search character string with high accuracy, and to realize retrieval of an appropriate document. <P>SOLUTION: A search device includes: analysis means for analyzing a search character string to divide it into morphemes; character string expansion processing means for expanding the search character string on the basis of an analysis result to obtain expanded character string groups; search means for searching a search target database with the expanded character string groups; and result display means for displaying a search result by the search means. The character string expansion processing means includes: morpheme string generation means for generating morpheme strings each including one or more morphemes; dictionary search means for searching, with the morpheme strings, a dictionary database in which morphemes are associated with the expanded character string groups; and result output means for outputting an expanded character string group as a result of searching the dictionary database with the longest morpheme string among the generated morpheme strings.
