<p>An air conditioner and a control method thereof is provided to purify a room by varying at least one among the height of an outlet unit and the rotation number of a blower according to indoor pollution degree. An air conditioner comprises a main body(2), a blower, left and right outlet vanes(94,104), and left and right outlet vane drive mechanisms, an outlet unit(80), a lifting mechanism, a controller. The main body has a lower air suction part, upper left and right air discharging part, and an upper opening. The blower is installed at the inner part of the main body. The left and right outlet vanes open and close the left and right air discharging parts. The left and right side outlet vane drive mechanisms respectively drive the left and the right outlet vanes. The outlet unit is ascended and descended through the upper opening. The outlet unit has an air blowing port. The lifting mechanism lifts the outlet unit. The controller controls the lifting mechanism in an ascending mode and controls the left and right vane drive mechanism in a closing mode.</p> |
