The embodiment of the present invention provides a data processing method and apparatus, the method comprising: dividing a bit string comprising complete RLC SDUs (Radio Link Control Service Data Unit) to obtain column vectors; computing the column vectors, and n m-dimensional vectors in a coefficient vector table derived from the values of parameters L and m characterizing the size of the bit string, so as to obtain n linear combination segments; and adding outer headers to the n linear combination segments to form an RLC PDU (Radio Link Control Protocol Data Unit). During this process, data headers of the data PDU sent on a sending side are simplified by canceling segmentation and re-segmentation mechanisms on the sending side, thereby reducing the overhead of the data headers and achieving the purpose of improving data transmission efficiency.
