Provided are a method and device for upgrading a system, which can reduce the number of times and time of service interruptions when an ONT or an OLT are upgraded. The method comprises: detecting an upgrade triggering event, the upgrade triggering event being used for instructing the optical network terminal (ONT) and the optical line terminal (OLT) to perform a linkage upgrade; resetting the ONT so as to activate a pre-loaded ONT upgrading program; and recovering a service with the OLT. In the embodiments of the present invention, upgrading and resetting an ONT and an OLT simultaneously or almost simultaneously, i.e. a linkage upgrade, reduces the number of times and time of service interruptions caused when the ONT and the OLT are upgraded, thereby improving the user experience. |
