PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of an image forming device constituted so that an image forming action is executed by applying an image forming process to an image carrier and an image is repeatedly formed on the image carrier, to properly detect the service life of the image carrier in any using environment and to properly warn for the exchange of the image carrier or a process cartridge including the image carrier. CONSTITUTION: The image forming device is constituted so that the image forming action is executed by applying the image forming process to the image carrier 1 and the image is repeatedly formed on the carrier 1 and provided with a means 15 detecting the film thickness of the carrier 1 and which outputs a warning signal S for prompting the exchange of the carrier 1 or the process cartridge 13 including the carrier 1 when the film thickness of the carrier 1 arrives at a previously set level because the carrier 1 is repeatedly used and shaved. Besides, it is provided with a means 16 detecting temperature and humidity so that the set level of the film thickness of the image carrier for prompting the exchange of the carrier 1 or the process cartridge 13 including the carrier 1 is made different at every temperature and humidity. |
