800,297. Solid state rectifiers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 19, 1955 [Dec. 21, 1954], No. 36344/55. Class 37. A rectifier unit comprises a pair of electric conducting and heat-absorbing members 2 and 3, in contact with the opposite faces of a rectifying cell 1, cooling members 4 and 5 with heatradiating walls which form ducts for a cooling fluid medium, in contact with the heat-absorbing members, and the whole being damped together with insulating material 6 between the cooling members, so that an enclosure is formed for the cell. Lugs 7 may be provided on the cooling members to facilitate bonding to the insulating material. Flexible metallic leads 8 and 9 are provided to the cooling members. The cooling members may be of copper, brass, aluminium or plastic material, and the rectifying cell may consist of Ge, Si, Se or CuO material. A plurality of rectifying units may be connected together by means of insulated rods 10, so that cooling fluid may circulate throughout. The cooling members may form the evaporator elements of a refrigerator. |
