<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a tatami bed and the tatami bed, which allows for easy cleaning, not causing a problem of slippage between a tatami facing and a tatami bed. <P>SOLUTION: An upper mold 3 and a lower mold 1 are opened to form an open mold state. In this state, a core material 7 with the top face in contact with the bottom face of the upper mold 3 is fixed by fixing means. A coating material 4 is applied on the bottom face and the four side faces of the recess 2 of the lower mold 1. The mold is then closed. A liquid polyurethane material is injected into a cavity S. The upper mold 3 and the lower mold 1 are heated by heating means, so that the polyurethane material is foamed and cured to form an integral foam 6. During the foaming and curing, the integral foam 6 having a coating film on the surface resulting from the coating material are bonded to the bottom face and the four side faces of the core material 7 into an integrated laminate to form a molded product.
