<p>A method for determining whether a test compound has the ability to inhibit the function of the type 3 secretion system. In a first step, the compound is tested for its ability to inhibit secretion of an effector and/or a translocator protein, in a second step, it is further tested for its ability to inhibit the assembly of the structural components to form the needle complex. By this method, drug candidates can be identified that are highly specific anti-bacterial agents for treating diseases caused by Gram-negative bacteria with a T3SS.</p> |
