An adhesive flange extender 10 for an ostomy flange 1 comprises a flexible arcuate membrane having a radial inner edge 12, a radial outer edge 14, and an adhesive surface 26 for securing the membrane simultaneously to the skin of an ostomate and to an ostomy flange 1. The membrane also includes at least two independently movable tab portions 28 at the radial outer edge of the membrane 14. The tab portions 28 preferably being defined by means of slits 20 that may define an inwardly tapering channel comprising an outwardly flared mouth 30. The plurality of slits 20 act to increase the flexibility of the flange extender 10 allowing for better conformity, and thus adhesion, between the extender 1 and the non-flat surface the skin of a patient provides. It is further taught in the application that the arcuate membrane may span an angle of substantially 180 degree and that the radius of the radial outer edge r2 may increase from the ends to the centre. |
