A radar circuit for controlling a radar antenna in a vehicle comprising: an antenna connection for connection of a radar antenna, a transmitting and receiving circuit for transmission and/or reception of a radar signal, wherein the transmitting and receiving circuit is connected to the antenna connection a test circuit, wherein the test circuit is connected to the antenna connection, wherein the test circuit is operable to transmit a test signal to an antenna and to receive a returned test signal from the antenna, wherein the test signal and the returned test signal are at least one of a direct current signal or a DC voltage signal or a low frequency signal having a frequency lower than the frequency of the radar signal by a factor of at least 104, wherein the test circuit is further configured to detect whether the radar antenna is functionally correct connected based on an evaluation of the returned test signal, and wherein the test circuit is capable to transmit the test signal to the radar antenna during a radar transmission and/or reception of the radar signal such that the transmission and/or reception of the radar signal is not disturbed by the test signal and the returned test signal.
