<p>PURPOSE: A method for establishing connection between an external device and a portable terminal docked to the device is provided to control various devices included in the external device when the portable terminal is docked to the external device. CONSTITUTION: Docking connection with an external device is sensed. Information about a first sub device included in the external device is obtained. Information about a second sub device included in the portable terminal and corresponding to the first sub device is obtained(S205). A sub device control path is reformed to process an event generated in the first sub device in the portable terminal or to enable the first sub device to perform a control operation(S210). State information of the second sub device is transmitted to the external device so that a state of the first sub device is changed to a state of the second sub device.
