1. A storage control apparatus comprising:
a plurality of storage devices which are controlled as a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) group for storing data; and a controller which is connected to a higher-level device and each of the storage devices and which reads data from a specified storage device of the plurality of storage devices that is specified by a read request from the higher-level device, in accordance with the read request, wherein the controller sets a first timeout period of the specified storage device, to one of a first value and a second value, shorter than the first value, the second value being set for guaranteeing a response time from the storage control apparatus to the higher-level device, wherein the second value is selected if a certain condition of the plurality of storage devices is satisfied, wherein the controller generates the data based on other data which is acquired from one or more other storage devices in the RAID group related to the specified storage device when the data is not read from the specified storage device within the first timeout period, and wherein, upon receiving the read request from the higher-level device when the first timeout period is set to the second value, the controller: reads the data corresponding to the read request from the specified storage device, detects that a timeout error occurred when the data is not acquired from the specified storage device within the first timeout period, sets a second timeout period of the one or more other storage devices in the RAID group related to the specified storage device to the first value, and reads the other data corresponding to the data from the one or more other storage devices in the RAID group related to the specified storage device, generates the data based on the other data which is acquired from the one or more other storage devices in the RAID group related to the specified storage device, and transfers the generated data to the higher-level device.
