PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an irradiation device that can achieve both the uniform amount of light with which an area extending in one direction is irradiated, and the non-limitation of the upper limit of the light emission amount at ends by the packaging density of point light sources, image reading device, image forming apparatus, and irradiation method.SOLUTION: An irradiation device includes a plurality of point light sources that are arranged in one direction and have at least two or more types of different output light amounts, and a light guide member that guides the light irradiated from each of the point light sources so as to be light output from a light source extending in one direction continuously, where each of the point light sources has a combination and arrangement of the output light amounts set thereto for each block obtained by dividing the arrangement of the point light sources, so that the light output from the light guide member can be made uniform. |
