A computing system is described that receives notification data associated with a recipient user 200, and responsive to determining that the recipient user is interacting with a first computing device at a first particular time 210, outputs, for transmission to the first computing device, the notification data 220. The computing system determines that the user is interacting with a second computing device at a second particular time 230, and responsive to determining, based on the second particular time being less than a threshold amount of time after the first particular time 240, that the user did not view the notification data at the first computing device, outputs, for transmission to the second computing device, the notification data 250. This arrangement avoids notifications, particularly urgent notifications, being missed by a user that has recently changed devices where a notification was recently sent to the device the user was previously using. The context, i.e. presence, of the user may be monitored using sensors, communication units/radios or input devices etc. The method aims to chase the user as he/she switches devices to ensure notifications are successfully seen (or heard/felt etc.) by the recipient user. |
