<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile phone, mobile phone system, and handset unit that have a function easy to use. <P>SOLUTION: A mobile phone is provided with a cartilage conduction vibration part able to contact with a cartilage of ear on a side face of the display surface of the mobile phone, and protects the display surface from getting dirty when the cartilage conduction vibration part contacts with the cartilage of ear. The display of a display part is changed to privacy protection display based on detection of contact between the cartilage conduction vibration part and the cartilage of ear. The cartilage conduction vibration parts are each provided on either side of the display surface, and a receiver is provided which is commonly used if either one of them is used. In another embodiment, on one side of the display surface the cartilage conduction vibration part and the receiver are provided. On the opposite side a telescopic holding auxiliary part is provided. The cartilage conduction vibration part and the receiver are made into a handset unit which is a separate body from the mobile phone, and are made to communicate with the mobile phone by means of short-range radio communication or wire communication.
