The invention relates to a steering brake actuation unit (1) for a hydraulic brake system (100) for a motor vehicle, in particular a utility vehicle, said brake system (100) comprising: at least one wheel brake (2) on the left in relation to a preferred direction of travel, said brake having a left brake circuit (4) that acts on the left wheel brake (2); at least one wheel brake (3) on the right in relation to a preferred direction of travel, said brake having a right brake circuit (5) that acts on the right wheel brake (3); at least one master brake cylinder (6) for generating brake pressure in at least one of the brake circuits (4, 5); and at least one brake pedal (7) coupled to the master brake cylinder (6). The brake system (100) is designed in such a way that a brake pressure difference can be produced in the brake circuits (4, 5) in order to carry out the steering braking. The object of the invention is to design a brake system of this type which is more cost-effective, more compact and easier to operate. To achieve this, according to the invention, the steering brake actuation unit (1) has a single master brake cylinder (6) for generating brake pressure for both brake circuits (4, 5) and a changeover valve unit (8) is associated with the master brake cylinder (6), said unit being configured to admit the brake pressure from the master brake cylinder (6) simultaneously into both brake circuits (4, 5), or to cut off one of the brake circuits from the brake pressure (4, 5). |
