The present invention describes the process for obtaining and using the Sargassum buxifolium extract. The invention describes the process for obtaining the extract of SaBu from organic solvents, alone or combined; the concentrate and further fractioning thereof by column chromatography. The tests performed to the extract of Sargassum buxifolium shown that this alga has antiproliferative and apoptosis induction properties over the cells of cervicouterine cancer (CALO AND INBL). The present invention describes the use of the Sargassum buxifolium extract as an immunoregulatory agent in lymphocytes of peripheral blood.
