A method for determining a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a mobile terminal. The method is applied to the mobile terminal side and comprises: detecting the performance of each currently available WLAN and determining a WLAN with the optimal performance currently. The mobile terminal comprises: a detection module being configured to detect the performance of each currently available WLAN; and a processing module being configured to determine a WLAN with the optimal performance currently according to the performance of the currently available WLAN detected by the detection module. Embodiments of the present invention require only modification to the mobile terminal, but do not require any modification to a WLAN network hotspot. The implementation is easy, convenient and feasible. Besides, by using embodiments of the present invention, the mobile terminal can detect an optimal WLAN available for use at any time, improving user experience of using the WLAN and thereby improving user satisfaction with a carrier and the mobile terminal. |
