The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition containing an extract of Cynanchi wilfordii Radix. The extract of Cynanchi wilfordii Radix, which is an active ingredient of the antimicrobial composition according to the present invention, has excellent antimicrobial activity against Bacillus cereus, which is one of food poisoning bacteria, and thus is expected to be useful as a pharmaceutical composition for alleviating, preventing, or treating food poisoning, a functional food composition, and the like. In addition, the extract of Cynanchi wilfordii Radix, which is an active ingredient of the antimicrobial composition according to the present invention, also has excellent antimicrobial activity against Bacillus thuringiensis or Bacillus subtilis, and thus is expected to be useful as a disinfectant, an antiseptic, a composition for a sterilizing and cleaning agent, a composition for a food preserving agent, and the like. |
