[Class 51 (i)] In a steam boiler in which the furnace gases pass through a flue or flues C to a chamber B at the rear and return by flues to the front of the boiler, the chamber B which is lined with firebrick is provided with a roof formed of suspended firebricks D, D<1>. The upper ends of the bricks are formed with holes for the reception of suspension bars H which are engaged by the eyes at the lower ends of hanger bars G having eyes also at their upper ends to engage with bars F of round section supported on beams E. The ends of the bricks are recessed to receive the lower ends of the hanger bars and the upper parts of the sides are chamfered. The bricks D at the forward end of the roof have rounded ends.
