A depolarizer is also described having an input coupled to an output of a polarized broadband light source. A first integrated module has optical transmitters and an optical wavelength router for a first band. A second integrated module has optical receivers and an optical wavelength router for a second band. |

1. An apparatus comprising:
a first high-intensity broadband light source; an optical switch coupled to the first high-intensity broadband light source; a plurality of optical power distributors coupled to the optical switch comprising a first optical power distributor comprising a first input port coupled to a first output port of the optical switch, the first optical power distributor comprising a first number of output ports to distribute in a shared manner an output power of the high-intensity broadband light source, the first number of output ports comprising a first output port and a second output port; a second high-intensity broadband light source coupled to a second input port of the first optical power distributor; a second optical power distributor coupled to a second output of the optical switch, the second optical power distributor comprising a second number of output ports; and a first plurality of optical line terminals comprising a first optical line terminal and a second optical line terminal, wherein the first optical line terminal is connected to the first output port of the first optical power distributor to optically couple the first high-intensity broadband light source to a first remote node to service a first plurality of optical subscribers, and the second optical line terminal is connected to the second output port of the first optical power distributor to optically couple the first high-intensity broadband light source to a second remote node to service a second plurality of optical subscribers. |
