PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer etc., that receives a request to print to a plurality of kinds of media and is efficiently adaptive to system maintenance and system alterations.SOLUTION: A printer which is connected to a host device or a first other printer and also connected to a second other printer through daisy chain connection includes: a transmission/reception section which receives print request data from the host device or first other printer and transmits the print request data to the second other printer; a print section which interprets the received print request data and executes print control processing based upon an interpretation result; and a response section which generates individual response data of the printer based upon a result of the print control processing, and also generates integrated response data from response data received from the second other printer and the individual response data and transmits the integrated response data to the host device or first other printer.
