摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which, in particular, warpage of a liquid crystal cell employing a TBA (transverse bent alignment) system is suppressed and irregular contrast caused by warpage is suppressed.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal cell and first and second polarizing plates holding the liquid crystal cell therebetween. The liquid crystal cell includes: first and second substrates opposing to each other; and a liquid crystal layer which is held between the substrates and comprises liquid crystal molecules that are aligned perpendicular to the surfaces of the first and second substrates when no voltage is applied. A pixel electrode and a counter electrode for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal molecules are disposed only on the second substrate. The second polarizing plate includes: a second polarizer disposed on the second substrate side of the liquid crystal cell; and a polarizing plate protective film disposed between the second polarizer and the liquid crystal cell. The first polarizing plate includes a first polarizer disposed on the first substrate side of the liquid crystal cell without interposing a polarizing plate protective film.
