PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, by targeting an oxygen-storage-capacity (OSC) material including a ceria-zirconia composite oxide, a novel catalyst carrier for exhaust gases capable of enhancing low-temperature characteristics, of exhibiting an excellent SOC performance even on an engine starting occasion, and of exhibiting an excellent exhaust gas purification capacity.SOLUTION: The proposed catalyst carrier for exhaust gases includes a fluorite-type ceria-zirconia composite oxide and ceria obtained as a result of the phase splitting of the fluorite-type ceria-zirconia composite oxide.
