A missile launching apparatus for vertical launching comprises a pneumatic launcher 611 with a guide rail 612 on which a missile 610 can slide. A piston 614 storing compressed air is restrained by an explosive bolt 621. When the missile is to be ejected, a signal sent to the explosive bolt breaks the bolt. The piston rises in a cylinder 613 and is coupled to the missile by a link 624 on the piston and a buttress 625 on the missile. |
