The method involves laminating foil strips (7) made of an elastic stretchable polymer between two non-woven webs (12, 14). Bending-resistant reinforcing layers (8) that are made of a non-elastic polymer are applied on parallel strips on one of the webs (12). The web is connected to a laminate by the foil strips and the other web (14) in a laminating unit (13). Positions of the foil strips and the reinforcing layers are coordinated to each other such that the layers fill a distance between the foil strips and are connected with the adjacent foil strips in reciprocal overlapping areas (9).
