A security device which allows a vehicle owner to 'cap' and secure the diagnostic port to make it very difficult for car thieves to gain access to the vehicles computer system. By sealing off the diagnostic port with a lockable device, unauthorised access is restricted. The security device also has the ability to fragment if tampered with and leave parts of itself embedded in the diagnostic port to reduce the chances of theft due to the effort required to remove these fragments. The device locks into the vehicle diagnostic port, If an attempt is made to forcibly remove the device, it may cause damage to the port which would hinder any unauthorised attempt at access to the computer system. The vehicle would still be usable and the diagnostic port could be repaired at a later date. |
