Methods for screening test compounds for their capability to inhibit retroviral integrase biologic activity, to inhibit the formation of functional integrase multimers, or to dissociate integrase multimers are provided. Kits to practice the screening methods are also provided. Methods for inhibiting retroviral integrase biologic activity are also provided.
