<p>A system for optimizing the operation of an induration furnace is disclosed. The system (12) comprises an interactive means (66) to monitor and control the furnace 5 (10) to provide an optimized furnace operation. The system (12) also includes calibration means (62) for generating a plurality of ideal set points for validation purposes, and a processing unit (60) receiving, in real-time, the online process data (70) from the interactive means (66) . The processing unit (60) then computes a plurality of real-time active set points which are matched with corresponding ideal set 10 points from the calibration means (62). If optimization is required, an optimizing signal is generated and communicated to the interactive means (66). The system (12) predicts in real-time the process and product parameters, that cannot be measured directly, thereby facilitating real-time optimization of the furnace operation and reducing operating and production costs. A method for achieving this optimization is 15 also disclosed.</p> |
