PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an electrochemical cell, efficient, low cost, safe and easy in use, and a method for manufacturing an electrochemical cell.SOLUTION: An electrochemical cell is manufactured through the steps of: preparing a porous composite electrode layer including electrically active particles and a binder; preparing a coating solution including a polymer, a solvent system for the polymer, and inorganic particles distributed in a solvent, the solvent system being selected to have at least certain solubility to a binder in the electrode layer; coating a coating solution layer on the surface of the electrode layer, the coating solution penetrating through a part of the electrode layer to dissolve a part of the binder; and removing the solvent from the coating solution layer, depositing a porous separator layer that contains the inorganic particles substantially uniformly distributed in the polymer and has a pore volume ratio of at least 25%, and forming a solvent bonding at an interface between the porous electrode layer and the porous separator layer. |
