An apparatus and a method for controlling brightness of a screen according to a white color ratio, and a screen display device are provided to control a brightness level of a backlight according to the white color ration, thereby preventing fatigues of eyes. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) monitor(100) displays an image by color mixing of light. An extracting unit extracts a white color ratio among colors displayed on a screen of the LCD monitor. An event generating unit(104) compares the reference ratio stored in advance with the extracted white color ratio. When the white color ration reaches to a reference ration or is higher than the reference ratio, the event generating unit generates an event signal, which is a lighting level adjusting signal of the backlight, to control the driving of the backlight(114). A reference ratio changing unit(106) changes the reference ration by a user. A controller(108) controls a backlight level supplying light to the LCD monitor according to the event signal. A table storage unit(110) stores a control table. |
