<p>Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, devices, and a system for assigning and releasing satellite bandwidth and relate to the communications field, so that satellite bandwidth can be assigned and released in time, thereby ensuring effective bandwidth usage and saving bandwidth resources. The method for assigning bandwidth includes: before a user plane is established in a signaling interaction process for initiating a service, sending a bandwidth assignment request for the service to a satellite device connected through an interface, so as to assign satellite bandwidth for the service. The method for releasing bandwidth includes: before the user plane is released in a signaling interaction process for initiating the service, sending a bandwidth release request for the service to the satellite device connected through the interface, so as to release satellite bandwidth for the service.
