The method may include the step of replacing water with an organic compound in the solvent. The invention also extends to a method for the removal of CO2 from industrial gases includes the step of reducing the regeneration energy of CO2 loaded solvents in an aqueous solvent solution by reducing the amount of water to be evaporated from the aqueous solvent solution. The method may be utilised in an acid gas treatment process.
