<p>The present invention relates to a new approach for treating cancer by using a synergistic combination of an arginine degradation enzyme and an inhibitor of autophagy to deprive cancer cells of arginine. A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancers comprising the synergistic combination and a method for treating cancers comprising the synergistic combination are provided.</p>
