<p>A carton has a detachable access structure formed at least in part in a composite wall of the carton (90). The composite wall includes a first major flap (24A) overlaying at least one minor flap (22A). The detachable access structure includes a detachable portion (21A) of the at least one minor flap defined by a first frangible line (32), a detachable portion (23A) of the first major flap, and an initiator section (50) frangibly and foldably connected to the first major flap such that the initiator section can be partially detached from the first major flap and folded out of the plane of the first major flap. The initiator section and the at least one minor flap are shaped and configured such that the initiator section is moveable into substantial overlapping relationship with the inner face of the first major flap and the inner face of the detachable portion of the minor flap.</p>
