A system for gesture recognition comprising a user input device including a plurality of optical sensors. Each of the optical sensors is arranged to detect a velocity of one of one or more user parts relative to said optical sensor. The user input device is arranged to generate movement data corresponding to the detected velocity of the one or more user parts. The system further comprises a gesture processor arranged to receive the movement data, match the movement data with one or more pre-defined gestures and generate corresponding control information associated with the one or more predefined gestures. |
