The device has a transport unit (28) that transports carriers (30) which is releasably attached with brush sections (12). The loading and unloading stations (10,26) and a transfer station (14) are used for transferring transport carriers in plugging station (16). A transverse driver (216) is provided in plugging station for laterally moving the brush sections to the longitudinal direction (L). The transfer station is provided with own transverse driver (214) which synchronizes brush section in transfer position with just stuffed brush section for lateral movement of brush sections.
