PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound that can exhibit a nonlinear light absorption effect to be added to a recording layer of an optical information recording medium for shortening writing time when a recording mark is written on the recording layer by a high-intensity pulsed laser.SOLUTION: A bis or tris(3-hydroxy-3,3-diphenyl-1-propynyl)aryl compound is represented by structural formula (1) (wherein Ar is substituted or unsubstituted divalent or trivalent aryl; and n is 2 or 3).
