PURPOSE: A portable terminal and an operating method thereof are provided to notify a current operation mode to an opponent terminal through a push alarm service. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication unit(110) connects to a server providing a push alarm service. A display unit(151) displays a setting menu for setting an operation mode. When the operation mode is selected in a setup menu, a control unit(180) transmits information to the server through the wireless communication unit to notify the set operation mode to the set opponent terminal. The server is a C2DM(Cloud To Device Messaging framework) server.
