<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method which can stably form a high-quality image. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a first storage part which stores a plurality of mappings between an algorithm to specify a reference plane previously set from a plurality of surfaces of a rotating polyhedron based on the time difference obtained from the rotating polyhedron and a feature shown by a plurality of time differences obtained from each of a plurality of two adjacent planes of the rotating polyhedron; an algorithm-specifying part which specifies the algorithm mapped to the feature shown by a plurality of time differences obtained by a scanning period measuring part in the first storage part; a reference plane-specifying part which specifies the reference plane based on the algorithm and time difference; a second storage part which stores a mapping between each surface of the rotating polyhedron and the amount of control of the writing position written by a laser beam deflected by each surface; and a control part which controls the radiation of the laser beam with which each surface is irradiated based on the amount of control mapped to each surface in the second storage part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
