The present invention provides an in vitro method for determining an individually- optimized treatment for a subject suffering from a hyperproliferative disorder, comprising the following steps: (a) providing an amount of ascitic fluid from said subject; (b) isolating and culturing primary cancer cells from said amount of ascitic fluid; (c) contacting samples of the ascites-derived primary cancer cells culture with a plurality of pharmaceutical compositions, each of said pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one anti-tumorogenic agent; (d) assaying the anti-tumoregenic activity of each of said pharmaceutical compositions on the ascites-derived primary cancer cells culture; and (e) identifying the pharmaceutical composition eliciting the strongest anti-tumorogenic activity from said plurality of pharmaceutical compositions, said pharmaceutical composition being the individually-optimized treatment for treating said hyperproliferative disorder in said subject. |
