<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit photographing to be carried out under photographing conditions permitting the exposure dose of a patient to be reduced by making effective use of the performance of an image detection panel. <P>SOLUTION: Sample data comprising a plurality of sample images photographed while varying the dose for every machine model before shipment of a product is stored in the console of an electronic cassette (image detection panel). In the initial setting process of the photographing conditions including the dose, the sample data is read and a dose selection screen 81 on which the sample images are arranged is displayed on a display 48. The dose selection screen 81 parallelly displays the sample images in the descending or ascending order of the doses (densities).
