PURPOSE: A photovoltaic power generation system with a reactive power compensation function and an operation method thereof are provided to implement small size and light weight by generating photovoltaic maximum power, compensating reactive power and improving power quality without an additional apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A photovoltaic module(110) converts optical energy into electric energy. An inverter(160) converts DC voltage inputted from the photovoltaic module into AC voltage. A filter unit removes a noise component in the output of the inverter. The filter unit transfers the output of the inverter in which the noise component is removed to an output end. A PLL(Phase Locked Loop) control unit(200) PWM controls the operation of the inverter in a PLL technique with respect to the measured value of the output end.
