The battery module (10) has a module housing (11) in which a battery cell stack (12) is arranged. Several cylindrical battery cells (13) are arranged to form battery cell stack, and are partially or completely arranged in the module housing. Two coolant chambers (17) are provided in module housing in which a coolant inlet (20) and a coolant outlet (21) are provided, for supplying coolant to coolant chambers. The coolant distribution channels (22) are provided in a wall (16) of the module housing. An independent claim is included for motor vehicle.
