Primary cell subdivided for higher capacity

The cell consists of an outer zinc casing the interior of which is subdivided by a number of zinc discs stacked alternate with discs of depolariser (MnO2). The discs have a central hole through which a graphite electrode passes. Alternatively the cell can consist of a stack of zinc cuvettes, soldered together at the edges and containing the depolariser. One variant has an outer case of zinc-coated steel instead of zinc. The cells have higher capacity, longer life and can be automatically assembled and tested.
