ELECTRICAL INSULATION OF A CABLE CONNECTION

In an apparatus for covering an electrical connection of two cables, each cable has an electrical conductor which is electrically connected to an electrically conductive connecting element. A region in which the connecting element is arranged is surrounded by an electrically conductive layer which is in electrical contact with the connecting element. Each cable is surrounded by a casing layer which is arranged on an insulation of the respective cable. In this case, a field control element which surrounds the insulation is provided in the casing layer. The conductive layer and the field control element overlap in the axial direction of the cables and are electrically connected to one another. A space is formed between an edge region of the conductive layer, which edge region is averted from the connecting element, and the field control element in the casing layer, said space being filled with an insulating material.
