PURPOSE:To simplify the allocating job of channel numbers by allocating the subchannel numbers to all devices when an input program loading command is equal to the first command and then allocating the simplified subchannel numbers when said loading command is not equal to the first one respectively. CONSTITUTION:The device numbers 010, 020, 040 and 050 are allocated to a virtual computer and the subchannel numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3 are allocated to those devices respectively. Then the device of the number 030 is attached to a virtual computer by an attachment command. Then an initials program loading command IPL is supplied again. At this time, the device having its number smaller than the number of the device attached to the computer and closest to the number of the device by an attachment command is retrieved. Then the allocation of subchannel numbers is carried out at and after the subchannel number corresponding to the device.
